Golf Coaching at Rushmore Golf Club

The Golf Pros at Rushmore Golf Club are bringing golf coaching in to the 21st century with a new digital video coaching system. The G.A.S.P. system, as seen on Sky Sports’ World of Golf allows the Pros to analyse in detail the golfers swing. The system has many outstanding features including one which compares the golfers swing with the best players in the world, such as Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Colin Montgomerie. There is an opportunity for the golfer to buy a student CD which means they can install a basic version of G.A.S.P. on their home computer which allows them to study their progress at home as well as receive a ‘virtual’ lesson over the internet. It also has a computerised club fitting system to ensure you buy the right equipment.

Phil Jenkins, the Club Professional joined Rushmore in July 2005 and his international golf coaching experience is already having an impact. “Since arriving at Rushmore I have introduced specific coaching for ladies and juniors and the new G.A.S.P. system has proved very popular and produced amazing results”.

Phil carried out his professional training at Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club and for the last 10 years has been coaching golf in South Africa and most recently Switzerland. Along with the other Golf Pros at Rushmore, Jason Sherman and David Bartlett, Phil has a vision to create a Golf Academy at Rushmore - “in the next 5 to 10 years we would like to have the most advanced and successful coaching centre in the area”.

Junior Camp

The junior camp was a great success, with 43 junior golfers aged between 7 and 17. The camp lasted for 5 days with group coaching on driving, iron play and short game each morning followed by playing on the golf course in the afternoon.

The youger ones mostly played 9 holes and the older ones 18. Over the course of the week the new members were able to obtain their first handicaps and the more experienced players were able to reduce theirs.

George Hall won the most improved player since last years camp.
